A new paper, co-authored with Adam Dixon, is now out in the Chinese Journal of International Politics, titled ‘Is the China Effect Real? Ideational Change and the Political Contestation of Chinese State-Led Investment in Europe‘. The paper deals with the drivers and mechanisms of the protectionist backlash in Europe in the face of rising Chinese state-led investment.
